Greetings my brother and my sister,
I pray this message finds you well! We are on the other side of our first week. This is Day 8 and we are one day away from completing Step 2: The Process of Transition. Before you read our key passages again today (Mark 9:14-29 and Matthew 17:14-21) I want you to pray that God would begin to give you a fresh look and fresh understanding of our passage. Pray that God would speak specifically to you as you read and spend time writing down what you see and hear!
Day 7 – Reflection
In my time of reflection I begin to look back over my own situations and I was reminded of the importance of the lesson of Day 7. The one thing you can always do is control how you respond to situations, circumstances and relationships. The Lord began to reveal to me that if I could first get control of myself then I could gain better control of the situation. It is our prayer that we are becoming “thermostats” rather than “thermometers”. What’s the difference? A thermometer simply reads the temperature as opposed to a thermostat which sets the temperature. Gaining control through Christ, prayer, meditation, and fasting is the transformational process of becoming thermostats rather than thermometers.
Day 8 – What’s coming out of your mouth?
Day 8 Audio Clip: https://bit.ly/RRLB_Transition2021DAY8
Proverbs 18:21 instructs us that the power of life and death comes out of your mouth. Have you ever noticed that what you are talking about more often than not ends up happening? I want to challenge you over the next couple days, begin to track what is and what is not coming out of your mouth. Literally take a moment, take a breath, take a beat before you begin to speak and challenge yourself with the questions, “What am I about to say and why am I about to say it.” If it is positive, productive, and helpful then let it flow, if not then you know what to do. Please note that “positive, productive, helpful” is not a license to avoid saying the tough and difficult things that you and others in your life need to hear. It is about the spirit and intent in which you say it!
Also, as you reflect on the audio clip and the text begin thinking about what has not been coming out of your, but should be coming out of your mouth. Start to tip the scales toward the victory in 2021 though praise, worship, and adoration right now even before the victory is won! I challenge you today to spend time in your journal reflecting on what 24-48 hours of observation of what is and what is not coming out of your mouth. My second challenge is to set aside a few minutes to do nothing but start telling the Lord Thank You and giving God praise!
Today on social media I will be posting content randomly. Please don’t forget to like, share, and comment to help amplify and extend the 40 Days of Prayer!
Stay Tuned for the Step 3 private zoom session which starts on Day 10 (Sunday)!
Godspeed and blessings,
Rev. Reginald Lee Bachus
